emPOWERing PAWZ, rescuing dogs!

For No More Last Days' first promotion, we are featuring and raising funds for emPOWERing PAWZ out of Calabash, NC.

As part of their advocacy and rescue work, empowering PAWZ is passionate about pulling at-risk dogs from kill shelters and working with the community to place them in foster homes and forever homes.

As an example of their work, they recently rescued 13 dogs that were at risk due to Hurricane Debbie.  The stories of redemption of some of these dogs follows.

Zelda:

Zelda came in as strays at a very young age. Since she had been in the shelter beyond the 21-day hold, and potential kennels were flooded due to the storm, she and her sister were set to be euthanized if not rescued or adopted. Growing up in the shelter life took a toll on this sweet girl, but she has come leaps and bounds in her foster home! Zelda is a loyal pup who just wants love. emPOWERing PAWZ was able to rescue Zelda into a foster home. Let’s help Zelda find her furever!

Suki:

Suki (aka Franklin) was found as a stray with her siblings and mom. Due to the time at the shelter, this entire family was set to be euthanized due to the storm.  Suki was a very shy, shutdown girl at first. But through her incredible foster family, she was able to learn to trust! Suki had the best ending possible! She found her FURever home! Suki now has 2 human siblings and a mom and dad that love her to pieces!

Stella:

Stella and her 2 sisters were found as strays at a young age...leaving them to grow up in the shelter. Due to the 21-day hold and storm approaching, Stella and her sisters were on the dreaded Euthanasia list. Stella has the most outgoing personality, is friendly with everyone - people and furbabies! She has been fostered with other dogs and lives to snuggle! Stella just lights up the room with her beautiful soul!

Annie (+8!):

Annie was found as a stray and unfortunately found herself on the dreaded euthanasia list. This girl was SO shut down at the shelter and wouldn’t leave the corner of her kennel. Within ONLY 1 week into the rescue, Sweet Annie surprised everyone with 8 puppies! Had Annie not have made it into rescue, she and her 8 precious babies would not be here today.  Annie and her babies are doing so well today!
